About the Agusta 109 Grand

A helicopter has retractable landing gear (wheels that fold away in flight) for one reason: cruise speed. Tucking the wheels away in the cruise makes this family faster than other light twins. On a 45-minute flight, that difference is real, not just on paper.

The cabin is the other reason to choose it. It is finished to an executive standard, not a utility one. For corporate and VVIP travel, the aircraft is part of the impression your arrival makes.

The trade-off is complexity and cost. Retractable gear is one more system to maintain. A fast light twin is also not the aircraft to send into a rough, unprepared landing site.
